On 7 September, an article about Estonian legislative amendments to enhance the local maritime sector was published in the internet version of the shipping newspaper TradeWinds. The article, entitled “E-residents and zero tax for crew as Estonia rejigs register”, introduces Estonia’s efforts to develop the Estonian shipping industry, improve our image as a maritime state and become a bigger player on an international level.

The so-called shipping package of legislative amendments establishes a special tax regime for shipping companies and seafarers, and creates the First and Second Register of Bareboat Chartered Ships.

The readers of TradeWinds can find the article here, but you can also read about the ‘shipping package’ in the most recent issue (PDF) of the Journal of Maritime Administration Affairs.
